Jonathan Webster

President and CEO, EnvAerospace, Inc.

Jonathan Webster’s EnvAerospace, Inc. has created EcoBlade technology. Within 6 months of use, large turbine engines begin to lose compression, which in turn reduces their power output by 15% within a year. In energy production, that means a 15% less output for the same natural gas input. EcoBlade is technology that extends full compression for years – resulting in dramatically increased output.  GE Energy and GE Aviation, now in validation mode with power generators, hope that the same technology might later be applied to airline engines, improving fuel consumption by 2% or more. Net, once deployed widely, the potential for massive savings in consumption.
SMITH, Donald

Donald Smith

Professor, , McGill University and CEO, BioFuelNet

For decades, Dr. Donald Smith has enabled the development of environmentally friendly inputs across the agriculture industry, in biofuels feedstock and food crops. His work has resulted in technologies now being applied to approximately 10 million hectares of farmland per year. The McGill University professor also created BioFuelNet, a network that brings together the Canadian advanced biofuels research community. He also led the laboratory that developed the microbial signal technologies, training over 60 graduate students, mostly at the PhD level, and publishing close to 300 papers.

Marine biofouling is a multi-billion dollar problem primarily affecting the shipping and aquaculture industries. Current technology is toxic to the marine environment and humans when it enters the food chain. The marine industry is aware of the inevitable need for an eco-friendly antifouling technology, but does not have a well-defined and cost effective way to embrace it. SYLLETA Inc. Cofounders Nikhil Gunari and  Gilbert Walker have developed MACROBLOCK, a potentially disruptive, cost effective and environmentally safe antifouling technology. MACROBLOCK treated nets have been used successfully in the Bay of Fundy. The company is hoping their deserving technology can be fast tracked by the Canadian Government for environmental approval.
