Shoshanna Saxe

Assistant Professor, University of Toronto, Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering

Shoshanna drives researchers, engineers and policy makers to consider the full life cycle environmental impacts and benefits of urban infrastructure. Her research focuses at the intersection of what we build; how we build it and the long-term impacts infrastructure has on civil society. She is the author of 9 published academic papers dealing with infrastructure and the environment, including “The Net Greenhouse Gas Impact of the Sheppard Subway Line”. The conclusions led to a collaboration with Metrolinx to better understand the embodied environmental impacts of transit infrastructure in Ontario, and a collaboration with Arup Toronto to inform sustainability driven design of underground infrastructure. She sits on the Waterfront Toronto Capital Peer Review Panel.
