Mohamed Khalil

CEO - Cofounder, Pyrocycle inc.

Mohamed’s Ph.D research focuses on developing a new cost-effective, environmentally friendly thermochemical process for recycling electronic waste, by recovering base and precious metals and also by decontaminating the plastics that contain high levels of toxic halogenated flame retardants (whose releases cause environmental and human health concerns), and transforming it to value-added products like: oil and gas. So, we avoid the carcinogen character of these materials and also close the cycle of e-waste, by turning scrap phones and PCs into valuable primary materials. He cofounded PyroCycle to capitalize on his discoveries with his supervisor – mentor and 2018 Clean50 Honouree, Polytechnique Montréal professor Jamal Chaouki.
