Natalia Moudrak

Director, Infrastructure Adaptation Program, Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation

Natalia is rapidly becoming a leading expert on helping communities adapt to climate change. Working on Clean16 leader Dr. Blair Feltmate’s team, she led a national consultation to establish 20 best practices for building new residential communities in Canada that are more flood-resilient. This research will lay a foundation for a first-of-its-kind National Standard of Canada on flood-resilient community design. In the process, Natalia consulted with over a hundred municipal stormwater experts, engineering consultants, developers, insurers and homebuilders to ensure best practices have national applicability. Natalia’s complementary research on wetlands found that simply keeping wetlands intact can reduce flood damage costs by nearly 40%.
