Bilal has himself contributed to the rapid growth of solar panel deployment that has skyrocketed across Canada since 2000, installing 3 MW – but with a typical 30-year lifespan, the volume of decommissioned solar panels across the country will soon match. Anticipating that, Bilal has introduced the first “Solar Recycle & Re-use” initiative, changing how the industry operates. Just because a panel has passed its prime in production years, or its capacity has been surpassed by newer models, does not mean it is useless – Bilal has re-purposed thousands of watts away from landfills and back into operational use, which is projected to grow into tens of millions in the following years as more panels reach their end of life.
