Manager, Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation, University of Waterloo
One of the largest climate risks to Canada right now is flooding. And the damage isn’t just to property. Dana led innovative research uncovering the long-term mental health impacts of flooding in Canada and the economic costs (e.g. days off work), a gap only superficially explored until now. Her project identified how not just the property insurance industry, but also the life and health insurance industry is impacted by climate change, bringing key players in the sector onboard with adaptation efforts and setting the foundation for future research. Dana also manages the multi-million budget and operations for the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation.
