Dr. Carol Liao
An internationally respected scholar of corporate law and sustainability, Carol is helping shift the future of corporate governance towards the new era of sustainable business and decarbonization. Her research lies at the intersection of climate science, fiduciary obligation, and EDI, where she is widely published. She is an associate professor at UBC Allard Law and Principal Co-Investigator of the Canada Climate Law Initiative, providing businesses with climate guidance to make informed decisions towards a net-zero economy. In addition to educating emerging lawyers, she has a demonstrable track record of institution-building and industry collaborations. In her leadership roles at the Centre for Business Law and Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics at UBC, she has expanded the reach of climate governance across sectors.
