Dr. Madeleine McPherson, P.Eng, PhD

Associate Professor, University of Victoria

Canada’s power grid has a coordination problem, and Madeleine has spent the last several years building the tools to fix it. She co-founded the Energy Modelling Hub, a ten-million-dollar national initiative that led the development of the M3 Platform (the country’s first open-source integrated energy modelling system) and now convenes more than five hundred policymakers, utilities, and researchers each year. Her research on interprovincial transmission became one of only two academic papers cited in Canada’s National Electricity Strategy. She has testified before the House of Commons, co-chairs BC’s Climate Solutions Council, and published more than sixty scholarly works, proof that good modelling and conference agendas can move real policy.
