Dr. Turpin and her team are at the forefront of the Yukon’s firm stance to mitigate climate change. She leads all climate change-related policy – including the Yukon’s newly enhanced climate, energy and green economy strategy, Our Clean Future. This policy gained support from the territory’s government in the fall of 2020 and lays out a bold plan for the Yukon including targets to reduce GHG emissions from transportation, heating, and electricity by 45% by 2030, while ensuring 97% of electricity on their main power grid comes from renewables. She is also targeting EV adoption – with the goal of a 100% ZEV government fleet in the coming years and targets to to have 4,800 ZEVs on the road by 2030.
