Ed Martin
Ed has led Nalcor Energy since 2005 with a focus on safety, environment, sustainability and renewable energy. Through the Lower Churchill Project at Muskrat Falls, Nalcor will bring on-stream 824 MW of renewable energy capacity, 40 per cent of which will be used to offset existing thermal generation in Newfoundland and Labrador, dramatically reducing GHG, CO2 and sulphur emissions and also contributing to Nova Scotia’s renewable energy targets. In 2010, Nalcor received the Canadian Electricity Association’s Environmental Commitment Award and purchased wind energy to power over 6 per cent of NL households. Nalcor also has an internationally recognized program to protect fish and wildlife, and upon completion of Muskrat Falls, will generate 98 per cent of its power from renewable sources.
