Elizabeth Gresh
Are we sufficiently preparing the next generation for the future of sustainability and climate issues? Lizzy’s “The Gaia Project” targets K-12 students with hands-on inquiry-based climate change programs designed to green schools and improve climate literacy. With well-thought-out and meaningful content, Elizabeth has been able to strengthen students’ literacy, math, science, and social studies skills while intertwining meaningful climate action projects on school grounds. The programs have been able to reach over 10,000 students with direct hands-on action projects and over 25,000 with great resources like the “50 classroom climate actions” interactive scratch poster. Gaia has worked to convince teachers to use valuable class time to engage students in new ways that will ultimately help prepare them for a career path in a decarbonizing economy.
