Preventing whale strikes often comes down to seeing animals early enough for ships to change course. Emily co-founded Whale Seeker to fix that blind spot, building AI that scans drone, aircraft and satellite imagery to spot marine mammals in hours instead of months of manual review. She has run more than 100,000 government aerial images through the platform and secured $855,000 in federal funding for real-time detection technology. She has also co-published research with Fisheries and Oceans Canada that lets the findings hold up in regulatory review. A joint study with True North Marine showed that rerouting ships around whales can cut collision risk, underwater noise and emissions at once. Whale Seeker is helping operators see the risk early enough to steer around it.
