Emily Lowan

Leader, BC Green Party

A lifelong climate organizer, Emily entered politics in July 2025 after years of frontline advocacy, community mobilizing, and work within the labour, housing, and climate justice movements — including roles with CAN-Rac (Climate Action Network Canada) and the Corporate Mapping Project. In September 2025 she became the first Gen Z leader of a major Canadian political party, after laying out a bold, hopeful vision for a province that works for the 99% — not the wealthy few. Since then, Emily has ushered in one of the most energetic periods of growth in the party’s history, while captivating followers from across Canada, and welcoming thousands of new members to the BC Greens. She’s also dramatically expanded riding-level organizing, and launched several major initiatives such as vacancy control legislation, a tax justice campaign, and she led the BC-wide “Fight the Oligarchs” Tour.

Her political philosophy is simple: hope is a discipline, and politics must be courageous, moral, and rooted in the everyday lives of working people, and she’s committed to building a movement powerful enough to expand democracy, confront corporate influence, and deliver a fairer, cleaner, and more resilient future for British Columbia.
