Marianne Falardeau
PhD Candidate, McGill University
Marianne’s research explores Canadian Arctic marine ecosystems and ecosystem services in the context of environmental changes, and provides much needed strategies to foster resilience of Arctic ecosystems and communities. Pursuing an interdisciplinary PhD at McGill University, she studies Arctic marine food webs and ecosystem services in Nunavut using methods based on both scientific and Inuit local knowledge, engaging and interviewing elders and hunters as well as microscopes. Marianne frequently interacts with the public through science outreach activities in the South and the North of Canada, such as workshops in Quebec schools and youth science camps in Nunavut.
