Flavie Desgagne-Ethier

When the Trottier Family Foundation decided to back its climate ambitions with real money, Flavie was the one turning that ambition into strategy. She leads the Foundation’s flagship climate program, which committed $150 million through 2030, in part by spending down its endowment rather than only distributing investment income. That commitment anchored a $405-million pledge by nine Canadian families and foundations through the Clean Economy Fund, the largest philanthropic contribution to climate solutions in Canadian history. Under Flavie’s direction, the Foundation became a UN Principles for Responsible Investment signatory and fully divested its endowment from fossil fuels. It is now mapping where the rest can do the most work, putting the Foundation’s money where its climate ambition is.
