Francis not only manages CO₂ emissions for Kruger’s 12 facilities, he coordinates steam, heat, and emissions for tangible results. Since 2023, he has led 16 projects that saved 48,000 tonnes of CO₂e. At the Sherbrooke, QC site, Francis spearheaded efforts to connect a tissue plant to a nearby cogeneration facility, reducing emissions by 14,700 tonnes annually—20% of the plant’s total emissions. At the Trois-Rivières mill QC, a $6.8 million energy integration project captures surplus heat and redirects it for linerboard production, cutting 14,000 tonnes of CO₂e each year (17% of mill’s total emissions). He also implemented a real-time monitoring system and increased biomass steam output by 11%, aligning cross-functional teams and enhancing sustainable operations.
