Director, Climate Change, BMO Global Asset Management

Two years ago we said no more Clean50 honourees from the Big5 banks, until their investments in fossil fuels declined, but here we had to make an exception: Graham is a climate-action powerhouse, leveraging his firm’s $200B stake to accelerate decarbonization across Canada’s largest companies. Through direct engagements he has secured 36 major wins – everything from accelerated net zero timelines to capital investments in decarbonization and supply chain improvements. Under his guidance, BMO GAM also supported 45 climate-related shareholder proposals including against major financial institutions and fossil fuel giants when progress lagged. Beyond leading more collaborative climate engagements (20) than any other Canadian financial institution, Graham has expanded responsible investing to tackle lobbyists, trade associations, and policy gaps, earning top rankings from Investors for Paris Compliance. From climate change to corporate change, Graham is reshaping Canada’s climate landscape—one company at a time.
