Hon. François-Philippe Champagne
Minister Champagne has been an absolutely rock star level champion for clean tech, and key to attracting a string of multi-billion-dollar clean tech investments to Canada which have anchored the development of an entirely new electric vehicle and battery manufacturing industry within our country. The largest of these commitments being LG Energy Solution’s $5 Billion investment to build the first large-scale EV battery manufacturing facility in Canadian borders, and Stellantis’s $2.8 Billion venture to transform their Windsor and Brampton plants to produce electric vehicles. On top of this he’s enticed General Motors to spend $1.8 Billion in the manufacturing of commercial electric vehicle delivery vans, and Honda Canada to invest $1.4B to retool their Alliston plant’s operations to produce the next generation of hybrid electric vehicles. These agreements, amongst others facilitated by Minister Champagne, will create 17,000 jobs as Canada’s auto industry pivots to become a world leader in the production of electric vehicles.
