Husein Moloo, MD

Husein is reshaping the landscape of medical education as Canada’s first Director of Planetary Health and Clinical Educator for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Among his impactful initiatives, he co-chaired a national strategy to infuse Planetary Health into the CANMEDS framework, impacting the training of thousands of Canadian medical professionals. At the University of Ottawa, he has introduced a pioneering longitudinal curriculum that integrates sustainability into medical education. Husein’s leadership extends to the ‘Cut the Carbon’ campaign, an ambitious initiative involving 45 Ontario hospitals to promote sustainable practices in surgery. His work, recognized nationally and internationally, is contributing to a more sustainable future in healthcare, where doctors can make conscious decisions in the best interest of current and future patients around the world.
