In 2011, the Port of Prince Rupert embarked on a bold journey toward environmental sustainability, driven by visionary leadership and innovative strategies. Central to this transformative journey has been Jason, whose dedication and expertise have reshaped the port’s environmental landscape and set new benchmarks for the maritime industry. His leadership in launching the Renewable Diesel Initiative will dramatically cut carbon emissions by 20,500 tonnes annually, reflecting a 60% reduction in port-based emissions—equivalent to removing 5,435 cars from the road. Furthermore, the expansion of shore power at Fairview Terminal, under Jason’s guidance, is set to reduce GHG emissions by 30,000 tonnes per year. Jason’s efforts are not just setting new standards but also paving the way for a net-zero carbon port complex and a green shipping corridor on the north coast.
