Jessica McIlroy

Councillor, City of North Vancouver

Spending the past seven years proving that city councils can be engines for climate action, Councillor Jessica has served as Vice-Chair of Climate Caucus, a member of both Help Cities Lead and the BC Municipal Climate Leadership Council, whilst steering policy that reshapes urban life and the built environment in North Van. Her leadership drove the adoption of the city’s 2024 Climate and Environment Strategy, with measurable and ambitious targets that include: growing the urban tree canopy coverage by ~23% by 2035, increasing trips by walking, rolling, or transit to 50% by 2030, and bumping the low-carbon heat supply to the community energy system 40% by 2027, and 60% by 2030. Beyond local impact, she champions decarbonization policies province-wide that expand equitable access to retrofits and climate-resilient homes, while working for Pembina Institute.
