Jim Reid, LLB

Jim is driving Fortis’ climate and sustainability agenda with remarkable impact. His strategic oversight has embedded sustainability into the core of operations, from capital planning to executive compensation. His leadership has resulted in the publication of the company’s first TCFD/Climate Report in 2022, followed by another more detailed climate assessment and report in 2024. They have reduced direct emissions by 33% through 2023 compared to 2019 levels, making significant progress towards their net-zero target. The impacts of Jim’s leadership extend throughout the Fortis Group, guiding the integration of comprehensive climate change and sustainability frameworks for all 11 utility operations across North America. Beyond Fortis, Jim participates on the Net Zero Council of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, where he actively advocates for public policy respecting the clean energy transition, and on the Global Advisory Board of the Association of Corporate Counsel, offering sustainability insights to global Chief Legal Officers.
