John Lounds

With John as President & CEO since 1997, the NCC has become the national leader in science-based land conservation, conserving more than 2.7 M acres (1.1 M hectares). John’s efforts helped convince the Government of Canada to establish the Natural Areas Conservation Program (recently renewed) securing more than 4,000 sq. km. of ecologically sensitive land, to date. NCC’s most recent campaign, “A Force for Nature ” raised more than $500 M,  which was invested in direct Canadian conservation. On average, NCC protects an additional 2 properties every week.
