Investigative reporting is critical to shine a light on the financial sector’s role fueling the climate crisis, Canada’s role in climate diplomacy, and the politics of megaprojects. Putting these issues front-page, John’s reporting has been cited in shareholder resolutions, contributed to policy changes, and triggered a call from the White House to Ottawa. He’s leveraged access to information requests to reveal that lobbyists from the Canadian Association for Petroleum Producers lobbied the federal government more than any other organization at the start of the pandemic, exploration licenses to identify an emerging offshore oil boom off the coast of Newfoundland; and emissions data to reveal the 100 largest emitters in the country.
