Kaya Moore, MES
With Kaya’s oversight, farming’s next big efficiency gain might come from a solar-powered electric robot doing the weeding! Hired to bring an environmental lens to how new agricultural technology gets tested before it reaches Canadian fields, under her watch, the organization tests robotics, AI systems, soil health tech and weather stations, introducing them to commercial farm operations to assess real-world performance – aiming to help farmers reduce chemical use by 90% and leveraging the weather stations that help farmers make sharper decisions. Research includes ploughing into whether these emerging tools are truly more sustainable than conventional equipment and modes of production, while helping to build the internal capacity to evaluate these tools responsibly. Innovation Farms Ontario is a working research site where the equipment actually earns its keep.
