For more than 20 years, Leigh has led Staples Canada in their transition towards greater corporate sustainability. Her leadership has resulted in the early achievement of several of Staples’ 2025 sustainability goals, including a substantial 8%+ reduction in natural gas and electricity use in the past 2 years. Many of her accomplishments are achieved through strategic partnerships; one with Tree Canada has led to the planting of >240,000 trees across Canada, another with Call2Recycle that has diverted more than 840,000 kg of batteries from landfill; as well as many others, including a 20+ year partnership with HP which has helped Staples and HP recycle >6,600,000 ink and toner cartridges since 2020 alone. Leigh has also created and fostered an 11+ year partnership with Bullfrog Power making Staples Canada their largest retail partner, as well as led Staples’ shift to 100% Bullfrog Powered renewable electricity for all printed materials – altering a key segment of Staples’ core business in an impactful way.
