Lindsay Walker, BEng, MASc
A triple threat, Lindsay’s tackling sustainability at Humber from all angles, working with academics to embed it into the curricula, with the ops team to tackle everything from waste to energy efficiency, and with 86,000 learners, engaging them in supporting a wide variety of programs. Recent examples? A campus-wide operational change eliminated the use of 200,000 single use containers over just 2 terms, 579 courses now contain sustainability content, a change in garbage bin processes has already eliminated 10,000 plastic liners halfway through implementation. Over Lindsay’s tenure, sustainability at Humber is no longer only about waste, carbon and energy, but about balancing the social, environmental, and economic dimensions of campus teaching, culture, and operations, and the school has risen in rankings to now being the number 4 ranked campus in Canada on the definitive STARS list.
