The founding director of CIER, Merrell-Ann’s team has led numerous capacity building projects for over 300 First Nations across Canada, catapulting over 1000 First Nations youth participants into watershed leadership roles, providing concrete steps to protect habitat, species at risk, and provide community based monitoring. Also, as the Chief Negotiator for the Government of the NWT charged with negotiating 5 trans-boundary water agreements, lawyer and conservationist Merrell-Ann and her negotiating team are the last line of defense for the future of water in the territory.
