Michael Bernstein
As a trusted advisor to the federal government and across the political spectrum, Michael’s work is focussed on ensuring the Canadian carbon pricing system is effective and enduring. His most impactful contributions have come through his ability to educate others, running campaigns on the public benefits of carbon taxation, and contributing to increased public support for the policy. In 2020 he conducted an advocacy and research campaign which helped support the federal government’s decison to raise the carbon tax $15.00 / year to $170 per tonne by 2030. His work with the CRA advocated for easier access to carbon tax rebates by Canadians via direct payments. He has also successfully advocated for changes to carbon pricing that helped farmers and small businesses – outcomes that help make pricing pollution a more durable policy.
