Michael Goeres
As head of CCME’s Secretariat, Michael plays a leadership role in facilitating and obtaining consensus on Canada-wide approaches to major environmental issues including air quality, water, land use and remediation, climate change adaptation and waste management. This produces common federal/provincial/territorial collective policies, approaches, guidelines and best management practices. For example, every government except Quebec has agreed to implement the Air Quality Management System, and every government is implementing the Canada-wide Action Plan for Extended Producer Responsibility. Most recently, all provinces have formed a united front in agreeing that climate change discussions are now an essential part of our national energy plan conversation.
