In his pursuit of fusion energy, Michel and his company General Fusion have the potential to transform the energy landscape. Fusion is the ultimate carbon-free energy source; derived from sea-water and with zero emissions, no long-lived waste, and at costs comparable to fossil fuels. Since 2002 General Fusion has transformed Canada into a leading commercial fusion development hub, collecting 29 patents, employing 65 scientists, and raising over $100 million in capital, much of it internationally sourced.  Its technology leadership has also enhanced Canada’s reputation world-wide, something on which other Canadian clean tech companies capitalize when seeking talent or capital.
