Mihskakwan James’ leadership is a testament to the power of Indigenous-led innovation in achieving energy sovereignty and environmental stewardship. Among his greatest impacts, he secured a $50M grant for the Oneida Energy Storage Project – the largest project of its kind in Canada. The project will enhance grid stability while reducing emissions by an estimated 4.1 million tonnes of CO2e over its lifespan. This project, which is only one of Mihskakwan’s many impactful works, is a key example of meaningful Indigenous partnerships, ensuring multi-generational value returned to the community and offering a pathway towards both Net Zero and economic reconciliation.
