President & CEO, GIT Coatings
A lot of shipping’s environmental damage happens below the waterline, out of sight, which is exactly where Mo decided to fix it. His biocide-free hull and propeller coatings, XGIT-FORCE and XGIT-VORTEX, are now applied to more than 600 vessels in over 50 countries, engineered and exported from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The results: more than 360,000 tonnes of CO2 prevented, nearly 58,000 kilograms of copper kept out of the ocean, and close to 460,000 kilograms of VOCs never released, plus a measured 6 percent power gain for ships that use it. Lloyd’s Register signed off, and fleet operators keep coming back for repeat coatings across the fleet. Turns out the best way to make waves in an industry is to leave fewer contaminants in your wake.
