Monika Freyman, MSc,CFA
Monika’s work focuses on finance as a force for good – be it allocating capital to drive a better future for communities, to shareholder advocacy on issues such as climate change and social inequity. She helped launch the Ceres Valuing Water Finance Initiative, engaging 72 companies globally with 100+ institutional investors to safeguard freshwater systems. At Addenda, she oversees over $5 billion in impact investments—from rapid transit projects across Canada that could remove a million cars from the road to 40,000 affordable housing units, and Indigenous community development projects. Her team also backs community initiatives like Groupe Taq, creating jobs and developing skills for people with functional limitations. Monika advocates for systemic change, shaping policies and frameworks to measure carbon emissions and other externalities, so that sustainable finance isn’t just an innovative idea—it’s a market-wide reality.
