Naolo Charles, M.Env
A social entrepreneur, Naolo launched the Black Environmental Initiative in 2019 to elevate environmental engagement within Canada’s Black communities and push the Canadian environmental sector to confront anti-Black racism. He is one the first Black advocates urging prominent Canadian Black leaders to prioritize environmental justice, and being fully-bilingual, Naolo is uniquely aligned to break down messaging for both English and French speaking Canadians.
To boost Black community participation in environmental dialogues, Naolo played a pivotal role in organizing the first ever Canadian Black youth delegation to COP26 and mobilized key environmental and social organizations, through the CCECJ that he co-founded, behind a multi-year campaign aimed at promoting the adoption of Canada’s first ever environmental justice bill, presently under Senate review.
