Patrick took PolyFrost from a beaker on the lab bench to a diesel-saving force on highways across North America – in just 12 months. ChillSkyn’s passive-cooling coating keeps refrigerated truck trailer roofs up to 44 °C cooler, trimming compressor load and cutting fuel use by 17 % (that’s about 1,500 L less diesel per trailer each year). To prove it, they led pilots in Mexico, New Mexico, and Québec with calibrated sensors and meters that captured the savings in black and white. The results sparked manufacturer and fleet interest, while standards testing confirmed world-class durability and performance with 97.5 % solar reflectance and 0.95 IR emissivity. With 2,000 trailers targeted to be coated in 2026, Patrick’s scaling model could dodge 8,000 tonnes CO₂e annually – all without wires, plugs, or refrigerants. Now that’s really cool!
