Philippe Couillard
Affirming Québec’s leadership and expertise on climate change and carbon markets, Philippe Couillard has taken concrete steps since taking office to mobilize sub-national governments in Canada and around the world in view of the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework convention on Climate Change Conference (UNFCC) in Paris. In Canada, le premier ministre personally invited his fellow premiers of provinces and territories to a Summit on Climate Change in Québec City – was the first time premiers of provinces and territories of Canada were able to all discuss this important issue around the same table. This important summit served as an initial milestone for increased actions, commitments and collaborations among jurisdictions across Canada.
