Prof. Jessica Green
We’ve been arguing about climate policy all wrong. Existential Politics, Jessica’s book released ahead of COP30, argues that carbon pricing and net zero targets distract from the real lever: using international tax, trade, and investment rules to rein in fossil fuel owners and fund the alternatives. The argument travelled fast, into the Financial Times, CNN, the CBC, and a dozen podcasts reaching more than ten thousand listeners. More than half her papers published since 2021 rank in the top five percent of research outputs worldwide, and her earlier work on carbon pricing has been downloaded over 100,000 times. Alongside publishing and news appearances, she has advised international organizations and the Canadian Armed Forces. For Jessica, getting the argument out is its own kind of lever.
