Senator Rosa Galvez

Rosa is bridging the communication gap between scientists and decision makers in the Canadian government through her leadership on climate change. She advocates for stronger environmental legislation, including leading the Senate review of the Impact Assessment Act proposed by the government to reform the way we assess major infrastructure projects. Rosa also led research on the Lac-Mégantic oil spill which aimed to apply real engineering solutions to famous disaster case studies. The project examined the effects on human loss, environmental pollution, and municipal infrastructure damage, and resulted in Rosa being chosen by the Canadian society for Civil Engineering to give the National Tour Lecture on the findings.
