In collaboration with legal teams from McCarthy Tetrault and Olthuis Kleer Townshend, Stephanie championed the cause of First Nations communities and individuals with relentless efforts that culminated in a ground-breaking national class action against the federal government regarding the failure to address prolonged drinking-water advisories on First Nations reserves. The action resulted in a historic $8 billion settlement that will deliver approximately $1.2 billion to impacted individuals, $50 million for individuals who suffered related injuries, and $6 billion to support construction, upgrading, operation, and maintenance of water infrastructure on reserves, and a renewed commitment to resolve the water crisis.
