Steven Nitah
Steven has spent the past two years fundamentally reshaping conservation in Canada. He has directly spearheaded the First 30×30 initiative, unlocking $1.8 million in financing for Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) and directly supporting at least five Indigenous Nations, while engaging a dozen more. Building on his earlier leadership with the Conservation through Reconciliation Partnership, Steven has created the RAD Network, a national hub for knowledge, protocols, and financing tools for Indigenous-led nature-based solutions. His work has influenced policy, strengthened collaborations with 40+ Indigenous governments, and helped ensure that Indigenous Peoples are not just participants but primary decision-makers in conservation and climate action.
