Recognizing the importance of innovation in the fight against climate change and building on the success of the $600M Cleantech Fund I launched in 2018, BDC recently launched a $400M Climate Fund II once again led by Susan, bringing total assets under management to an even $1 billion. The 50 climate champions from the first fund now have cumulative annual revenues of over $1.4 billion, employ more than 5,900 people, invested over $290 million in R&D and were granted over 2,800 patents. And critically – for every dollar invested by BDC, $7.30 was invested by the private sector. While still early days for Fund II, every investment is on track to significantly reduce GHG emissions, demonstrating BDC’s role in Canada’s growing cleantech industry.
