Since founding Peace by Chocolate in 2016, Tareq has proven that a chocolate bar can carry more than sugar. The Nova Scotia manufacturer now sells through more than 1,100 retail locations across Canada, all while keeping every ounce of production local. He has linked purchases to causes like wildfire relief, community peace-building, and newcomer support, donating more than $225,000 since January 2024 alone. On the production side, plastic packaging is down 40 percent, 85 percent of cartons are now FSC-certified paperboard, wrappers carry 30 percent recycled content, and overall packaging weight has dropped 22 percent, cutting roughly 2.6 tonnes of plastic every year. Sweet, in every sense of the word.
