Terry Hickey
Terry is the driving force behind TELUS’s energy reduction strategy, taking-on the complex challenge of mitigating corporate emissions. Since starting in sustainability at TELUS, Terry has seen a 46 percentage point decrease in scope 1 and 2 emissions, even as revenue doubled. Overseeing 167MW of renewable energy projects, Terry reduced TELUS’s carbon footprint by more than 75,000 tonnes—equal to the weight of 15,000 elephants. Terry’s initiatives not only improve energy efficiency – they are designed to enhance workplace environments for his team, setting a strong leadership example in the world of tech health, agriculture and telecommunications. Aiming to reduce emissions by 100% from 2010 levels, Terry is guiding TELUS toward their corporate targets of public carbon-neutral by 2030 and 100% renewable and low-emitting electricity sources by 2025.
