Hell on two wheels! Led by Peter’s inspired efforts, Hamilton has implemented the largest, most successful smart bike share system of any medium-sized city in North America, spanning 35 square km. with 800 bikes, 125 stations, and over 15,000 members, who in 2.5 years, took 710,000 trips and travelled over 1,400,000 km. reducing their carbon footprint by 352,345 kg of CO2, burning 35,235,769 calories and saving $510,918 by not driving. Even more importantly, over 55% of Bike Share members report riding a bike once a month or less before joining Bike Share, meaning that a majority of members were not previously habitual cyclists.
