Long known as a world leader in farming potatoes, PEI has tranformed itself into a world leader in farming wind! As Minister responsible for the PEI Energy Corporation, Hon. Wes Sheridan championed the development of the Hermanville Clearspring Wind Farm, the latest addition to the province’s impressive wind energy generation portfolio. The 30 MW wind farm will produce approximately 114 million kWh of emission-free electricity per year for at least the next 25 years. With HC now on the grid, Prince Edward Island is positioned as a world leader in wind power, with approximately 30% of its electricity coming from wind. Some of the proceeds are retained in the host community. The Windfarm displaces 80,000 tonnes of GhG.
