Catherine Jackson
The growing field of sustainable finance has few thought leaders as influential as Catherine: In 2017, she was the first to write about the Bank of Canada’s failure to recognize climate change as a key vulnerability or risk in its Financial System Review Report, an oversight they corrected in May 2019. She founded the Investor Stewardship Group, a group of US investors with assets exceeding $17 trillion, that is sets and maintains voluntary standards for investment stewardship and corporate governance, and authored a report titled “Financial Imperatives for Canada’s Transition to a Low Carbon Economy” which identified numerous recommendations for tighter rules, standards, and oversight, across several aspects of the financial sector. Additionally, she sits on the board of Greenchip Financial.
