David Hughes

As a co-founder of the Circular Economy Leadership Coalition, David has helped mobilize leading businesses, academics and NGOs to focus on achieving a prosperous, sustainable, closed-loop, zero-waste circular economy in Canada. The Coalition has been supporting Canada’s contributions to the “Ocean Plastics Charter”, the Canada-wide “Zero Plastic Waste Action Plan”, and was instrumental in preparing the winning bid for Canada to host the 2020 World Circular Economy Forum. This is an extension of David’s leadership of The Natural Step Canada and their Sustainability Transition Labs which provide multi-stakeholder platforms for piloting initiatives and stimulating innovation and thought leadership on matters related to the environment and the economy, including the Circular Economy Innovation Lab and the Energy Futures Lab.
