So… you know how much alcohol is in your favourite beer. But how about how many microplastic particles? Microplastics are everywhere: in our drinking water, beer, salt, bottled beverages, soil, and even air. But how much? Through development of the first microplastic detection process for consumer beverage manufacturers that is simple and affordable enough to be done at any QA/QC lab, Lauren and her co-founder are providing transparency for consumers and identifying the role that the consumer beverage industry plays in finding a solution. Since devising a patent pending process that combines AI and photography, in the past year, she has raised $100,000, and hired 4 underrepresented co-op students.
