CSO, Polystyvert Inc.
There are 26 million tons of polystyrene produced every year – most of it is ending up in landfills or the ocean. Joining a growing circular plastics economy in Montreal, Polystyvert has developed the shortest loop for a circular economy to recycle polystyrene, producing virgin-like polystyrene while reducing GHG emissions by 80%. This women-led company has developed a portfolio of patents for a recycling process that works by dissolution and subsequent purification. This is a system for recycling styrenic polymers where 95% of the polystyrene contained in the input material is recovered back to “virgin” grade polystyrene.
